As I read your post I was thinking, does she/he remember the EMDR? I ask, because "parts of me" did EMDR for quite some time and I didn't recall. I mean, I think there were times I remember starting, but at the end, I wouldn't remember anything specific and assumed it wasn't working. I'm certain I told my therapist probably a hundred times, that EMDR just didn't work for me, I couldn't get it. Well, I didn't, but others inside did. I'm not saying this is your case, but is it a possibility? Do you recall the entire session? For me, I may remember arriving and the initial "hello" but not much afterward. Many times, I felt as if I just arrived and it was time to go--used to drive me crazy. Perhaps you aren't per se involved and that is why it doesn't appear to be working--perhaps not. If you don't remember the entire session, perhaps you might ask your therapist what he/she thinks is occurring during your EMDR session? Then again, perhaps it just isn't working for you. Just a thought from another EMDR client.
