Some people start feeling better right away as they connect to their body, feel like they are alive finally, like they exist, feel less "empty" and more like a "real person".

Some people go through a rocky period that is kind of like having gone throuugh surgery or dental work -- there is a recovery period. Typically, they say it is well worth it. Ego strengthening and containment and both as prep and as a palliative measure can help this phase go well.
