I have Complex PTSD, a long history of various traumas and I finally broke I guess from the accumulated stress. I did have previous therapy which had been helpful --- more talk therapy than anything. However, ongoing stressors pushed me over into a Traumatic Stress Response basically. I chose the therapist I am working with after having the opportunity to see him at work and for other reasons. He had the EMDR training and I was curious about it, mostly it was because I someone liked his style. It has been time consuming for me because of the many issues, lets say, that I have had to cope with over time. We have had to monitor the use of EMDR and also use other approaches depending on what I am experiencing each session. I wouldn't say it was "too" time consuming though. It has been a lot of work for me and therefore time consuming. However, that is how it is for me. Recently we used EMDR during a session and wow ---- what a response. It was different from previous EMDR sessions in many ways, including the following days etc.
