"I understand that EMDR is not a cure-all. It is simply a tool or technigue to facilitate in accessing the emotions and/or memories that may have been 'forgotten.' My hope was that it was a powerful enough tool to get past my blockages. Didn't do it. And, apparently, neither is bioenergetics' body work." Without commenting on whether this approach is appropriate in your specific case, I'll make a general comment. Very often, blockages can be addressed in EMDR either by identifying "blocking beliefs" or by doing Ego State interventions, which involves giving a voice to parts of the self, including protectors, resistances, walls, blocks, etc, and interviewing them about their purpose, their wishes, their age, and by orienting them to time and place, then giving them a more up to date job description.
