Here's a paper worth reading by Judith Lewis Herman. Those interested in helping traumatized people and those interested in what works in therapy will enjoy the paper.

However, getting to it is a little convoluted. There is a request not to reproduce. So, I decided to err on the side of caution and send you to the site rather than include the link. Maybe there's an easier way. It's in the public domaine.
