it would be a nice attribute to the forum if there was a search engine added. my previous therapist is experienced with DID, ISSD, etc. has practiced in the field for decades and has help people work through to 'completion'. i know people that have finished with him and remain stable on thier own. he is level II and completed the additional training. he does use it for DDNOS and PTSD. he is also the one, who says that "for him, EDMR has not been effective with DID" saying that his DID clients will 'switch' away from the experience - as i did. he does use it near the 'end', when barriers are intentionaly dropped and information is shared system-wide. i am wondering about ways to incorporate it earlier, making modifications, etc. i can see the potential value of EDMR to be worth pursuing and that's why i'm asking questions - esp. about your statement, >>Some DID folks can't do EDMR for a long time or ever.<< i haven't seen that defined any further - what DID folks can and can't do EDMR?
>>Please review this forum and its archives for similar discussions and come back and post questions if you have them after.<<
i've contacted EDMR therapists in my area, been given the names of the more experienced ones and NONE have had contact with ISSD. they also haven't seen any reason why i might not be suitable, even with my previous experience. i am not sure they are knowledgable - but in this area, for basic 101 understanding of working with disscoiative processes, it looks like the EDMR 'ego state' training might be the closest i can get. i'm also assuming they have the basics, based on what i've read of the protocals - is there a certificate being planned for the ego-state training?
