Its hard for me to fathom what you just said, namely, that people big into ego state work aren't screening for DID. It is possible that they do it subtly in interview and you may not know it happened (even if you have no amnesia!). Pretty hard to tell yourself - although if you lose time or find things in your closet that you don't remember buying -- and alcohol/drugs aren't contributing to memory problems, that might raise ones index of suspicion, as we say. (Doesn't mean someone is suspicious, just that a diagnosis becomes more likely). But if one searches issd.org for someone in their own area, ask them what device they use for testing or screening. DES is a screening device. There is also the following more comprehensive tests: the DDIS, the SCID-D and the MID, also the SDQ-20 and SDQ-5. If they don't use any of these, they are not testing for DID. Some people just use interview format, meaning, they imbed the questions in their interview. But then one wouldn't know if they are doing it.
