    I find it intriguing, and disturbing, that crime victims are expected to maintain a high level of arousal to "make their case" in the courtroom. At least that is what this discussion sounds like to me. God forbid someone get treatment, resolve an issue, and experience healing! If they don't burst into tears on the stand they might not be as much use to the prosecution.

    Weird world, isn't it?

    I remember reading in Shapiro's book -- she talks about how ingrained our perceptions of the "unhealable" are. People are not "supposed" to recover from some sorts of trauma or loss. It seems to almost offend our culture when healing does (or may) occur... At the very least it assaults our imaged of the damanged "victim" and makes us confront such things as what being a "good witness" means...
