yes it unfortunately is true that victims of crime are often perceived to possibly be lying, and so if they do not seem upset enough, that can be taken as a sign that they aren't telling the truth. Of course, if they seem "too" upset then that can be taken as a sign that they are unbalanced and therefore are making it up or have a psychiatric problem, etc... It is pretty sad and not fair at all, but the justice system is generally not terribly conducive to healing. And I agree that there is a general perception that trauma can not truly be healed from. Luckily that isn't true.
