Also some of this may have been covered during the training - I don't remember all of it, as it has been a while, and am off work right now, and my binders that would have the info are at work. Most of the clients I have the most emdr experience with have not reported bad fallout from emdr, but I know that a few have - two of whom later turned out to be more dissociative than I realized (but had scored ok on the DES) and a couple others I don't think were highly dissociative but I think we got close to some big issues during that emdr and, while the target processed really well, I think the other stuff got stirred up. Which I suspect is what happened with me as well. It seemed clear that the headache would start as I got close to remembering and would then relax again and return whenever it seemed like I was getting close - at least that is what the impression of the therapist was, and I agree. I'm not sure if I still have separate ego states other than the way that anyone else has. Though my post-emdr reaction seemed pretty severe at the time, it only lasted for a day and I'm feeling quite a bit better now - I just wonder if I should expect something like that each time or if it will be easier now - I do find with clients that most process more easily and more quickly as we go further along - but then everyone is different and can vary from session to session so I'm not sure. I guess I'll find out.
