Yes I did a lot of intensive ego state work and it seemed to go very quickly. I integrated over about 9 months and now that i am on this side of it I am glad it was so fast but during it it was pretty awful because it just felt like a constant state of running from one crisis/memory/issue to the next. Since integrating things are much more settled and tho there were feelings of loss at first I now far prefer living as an integrated person, and I feel somewhat ready to do the emdr even though I know there are risks - but not with the therapist I was seeing before because her emdr skills were not very good, imho. The person I am seeing for emdr is a certified emdr trainer (probably the wrong wording but basically she teaches others to do emdr), and trained me to use it. She also does energy therapies and is having me do a lot of that, and at times during the emdr she may have me do some of that to help me settle and cope with whatever comes up though we have not needed to do that yet. I haven't had lots of clients with whom I've done ego state work tho now have a few who I am doing this with. I don't feel skilled enough with emdr or with DID clients to use emdr to facilitate that - tho I do have one client who is formerly DID (integrated 3 years ago) and I have been doing emdr with her for about a year and started very slowly and cautiously and she has been doing quite well with it - from my perspective her progress is a little slow but her level of trauma is very severe and her talk therapist who has seen her for years is astounded by the shifts and certainly there hasn't been any kind of destabilizing other than some stress eating and hence wait gain but the client says she can live with that for now, given the progress she is making.
