I use DNMS with dissociative clients all the time... both DID and DDNOS. It is very effective and highly integrative. Thorough client preparation is not done "before" DNMS, rather it is an integral part of the DNMS process. Some clients take a long time to work through the early steps of the protocol, which involves the installation of crucial resources. Clients cannot graduate to the more strenuous parts of the DNMS process until they have mastered the first steps. Some clients can master the first steps in one session, some require many months of work. I have worked with DIDs who could master the resource installation steps in one session, and some who required months of help. Typically the more dissociative a client is, the longer the early DNMS steps take, and the more complicated the process. As for Carol Ann's question about bilateral stimulation being a trigger... I have gotten good results using the DNMS protocol with clients who refused bilateral stimulation. I suspect BLS enhances the process, but DNMS works well without it. Warm regards,
Shirley Jean Schmidt
