Re:More conclusions from the new EMDR meta-analysis

Here are a few points for everybody's consideration:

(1) The metaanalysis in question was published in the top journal in the field of clinical psychology: The Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (JCCP). Clinical psychologists are known for their careful experimental work in the areas of psychopathology and psychotherapy.

(2) The publisher of the metaanalysis is the American Psychological Association.

(3) The American Psychological Association does not have a dog in this race, so is probably more objective than the promoters of EMDR.

(4) The mere presence of a controversy as to the validity of such a therapy suggests that we do not know whether it works. It might be just another passing fad therapy, like the hundreds (thousands?) that have gone before.

In any case, there seem to be many intelligent, sincere professionals who doubt the validity of EMDR.
