Boundaries about touch are a matter of individual variability, and state, and professional ethical standards. Many of us our discouraged from any touch at all by legal advisors, lest patients misunderstand our intentions. I tend to offer a brief hug to those who want it, and I haven't had any misunderstandings. You can talk to your therapist about what it means to you and your therapist can tell you about his/her practices.
