Dr. Inobe, Your effort to respond specifically, quickly, and thoroughly to the range of messages and questions seems like an impossible task. Considering the inherent limitations of any internet forum, it isn't feasible to address all the concerns. Though your responses are excellent. Of course there are always more factors than can be discussed. A couple of observations about this thread: 1. It seemed like the original topic was “tongue in cheek” and “those last few SUDs” was actually humor about those last 2 or 3 drinks (“Suds” is an idiom for “beers” for some people). 2. If the question is straightforward, another consideration is that memories of traumas are difficult and for many people they will continue to have some level of discomfort. For some people a goal of zero SUDS (Subjective Units of Discomfort) and “no uneasiness” is not an appropriate goal. Hopefully everyone understands that forum discussions are not the same as the variations, immediacy, and clarifications that can occur during face-to-face conversations. Though the various contributors have provided much information about EMDR and other psychotherapy issues. Thank you.
