I wanted to clarify -- of course, integration, with five weeks of any therapy, is very good progress. However, without knowing what the previous treatment was like, how long it was, etc the results this client describes are only "lucky", not important. For instance, if she was in therapy for years resolving internal conflicts, then one would expect EMDR to move things forward quickly. Years of therapy would then be a substitute for the usual screening and stabilization process. If she had spent years talking through trauma, EMDR may have simply "pushed" the dissociative walls down, at the exact right moment... Additionally, we have no idea how long the EMDR session were, how often they were... etc... It would also be helpful to know why the client attempted emdr in the first place, what protocol was used, etc... Don't get me wrong, I adore EMDR, but I still fail to see how this client's experience is unique.
