Thank you for providing the specifics about your treatment history. (And readers, by the way, you know how I always say we don't advise on specific cases here, that is for purposes of GIVING advice, which I don't do here. GETTING informationn is not a problem at all, as long as it related to EMDR). Your story points out several key facts for us: one is that it took a long time to find the courage. Two is that even an experienced therapist that fails to screen for DID before doing EMDR can precipitate unexpected outcomes (in this case, runner took over). Three is that safe place can be very helpful as a preparatory step. Four is that some people can accomplish alot between sessions (I don't recommend that all DID's try to do this tho). Five is that from an energy point of view, bilateral stim can even out blocked energy (if Iheard you right). Four is that having a background in reiki (which is an energy approach that has its own process and would tend to teach its practitioners about healing as a process) may be a good preparation for EMDR healing. There is probably more here. I'm curious what else you have to say about EMDR as an energy technique, or about Reiki, or about what Reiki can get at that EMDR can't and vice versa. If you care to opine. Thanks Diane.
