    Once I saw your response (thank you) I realized why I was asking.

    A clinician I spoke to recently said that she has been doing emdr from very early on and that she adhered to the original Shapiro protocols (eg, only doing emdr once every 3 mos). She also said she was not certified but had the trainings (I and II).

    So that was where the grandfathering question came in... wasn't sure if there was no mechanism for it or if the clinician in question was not interested.

    My real question now would be "Does Shapiro even still adhere to those protocols?" I'm assuming the answer to this is common professional knowledge, just knowledge I don't have. If it's not, please forgive the question.
