Ok I know you weren't asking me but something I personally would ask is if they have ongoing emdr supervision and/or consultation with an emdr consultant, or if they don't now, then did they for a period of time (if so, how long?) after receiving their training? If they are certified then you already know they have done this, but otherwise it is hit and miss. In my experience although the training I received in level 1 and 2 was very good, it was a lot of information to process in a short time, and I have found the learning I have done in the emdr supervision I have since had to have been invaluable in my learning - I'm not sure I would be practicing effectively without that. And the level 2 trained therapist I went to see, though she is excellent for talk therapy, in the end was not at all using emdr appropriately and didn't even seem to understand much of the basic premise of it - I am sure that it is an unusual case, she was certainly aware she wasn't sticking to the protocol as taught, but really in my opinion she doesn't at all know what she is doing as far as emdr goes.
