re Observer and the Subconscious Mind
    Niall Fenix · 11/18/03 at 5:58 ET

It appears I may be a little late in replying to this posting, but as I have only recently come across this site perhaps you will permit me a chance to offer my own personal view.
From what I have found through practice it is the intellect that is more the observer in meditation. The mind itself is acting as a screen that recieves images and thoughts from either the sub-conscious mind (source like a c drive in a computer) or recieving from a source externally via the sences. The intellect observes and engages as it attempts to make sense of what it observes on the screen.
The more the intellect can reduce the speed of thoughts and improve the quality of thoughts the greater the trancendental experience of peace.
