Kathie (and others), I have come in on this discussion very late after stumbling on it from my desk (which happens to be located in Australia).
I was trying to find some more information and stories about your work Kathie - how it proceeds, not just the bare facts and headings but how it flows and what is involved - any suggestions as to where I maight go (Cape Cod is too far away this year I am afraid) to find out?
The more particular issue I was puzzling about as I was reading the discussion was this: When we are looking at creating large scale change across a big organisation it is almost certain that different parts of the organisation will have different cultures and fundamental operating assumptions from other parts. The question is - how different do they have to be before you have to dis-aggregate the change effort and start doing it in smaller distinct pieces. To put it another way - how similar does the context for the change have to be to allow you to deal with it as part of one reasonably distinct system?
