Kathie, I am based in Melbourne and work for a Company called BHP - which is a large Australian multi-national involved in the Resources industries. Let me know when you (or your colleague) have finalised your plans for coming to Melbourne and possibly running a workshop. I have no idea at this stage what overall support you would get.
You touched on my query in the first part of your response i.e. in dealing with differences in organisational culture - not race or country cultures. The thing I am still struggling with is what level of shared organisational culture do you need (how would you recognise that you had it) to make it appropriate to try and change the whole thing at once - at what stage do you instead say "No - I will chop this up into 4-5 organisational pieces and deal with them independantly and then see what needs to be done to make them interact effectively with each other later on"
I am sure that the answer will be some version of "It depends" but I wonder if you could suggest "what" are the main things "it" depends on?
