    from what i'm understanding so far is that it's not the usual technique to talk to 'sensations' as parts until there is evidence there is a problem.

    i can easily understand how that speaking to (highly?) DID clients would be confusing/uncomfortable/etc. for them (me).

    i can also understand that it would be wise to talk with a highly DID client before doing emdr or much else, and get to know thier in's and out's. my experience of t's that don't do that (for any therapy - not just emdr) is they tend to repeat harm ('bull in a china shop') done. i'd say that's erring on the side of caution - some may need more than others as far as prep.

    so what is the DNMS protocol? and what is so disturbing about it for you (given your previous therapist was interrupting too quickly?)
