Well, you've asked for ALL of the known contraindications, which is a pretty big request. I'll give you a summary of the main things: 1) everybody should be screened for a dissociative disorder, and if a formal dissociative disorder is present, the EMDR should be delayed until the early stages of work for dissociative disorders have been completed. Those include rapport, stabilization and containment skills, consent from the self system, and more. 2) Red flags contraindicating use of EMDR without careful checking include: active suicidality and self mutilation, not having roof over ones head, active abuse/trauma happening now (sometimes is a contraindication, depending), active substance abuse (except in a few circumstances, elaborated by Vogelmann-Sine, Sine, and Popky. 3) Some people might want to avoid eye movements, such as people with detached retina, certain other eye conditions. Some people might want to avoid lights because of seizure history. For those people, other forms of bilateral stim may suffice. 4) Someone who doesn't want to do EMDR shouldn't do EMDR. Someone who needs to keep their symptoms and for some reason isn't willing/able to learn an alternative to their existing symptoms. That may not be all, but those are the ones that come to my attention right now.
