You're right about a persons motivation having a lot to do with how the net is used. Being anonymous has it's advantages but people will abuse it for sure. Some believe that anonymity allows people to express themselves more freely so they can be more like their real selves online than they are offline.
Then there are those who say that net romance will die when video is added to computer communication because it will be more like face-face. I don't you can sum it up with one statement as such. Brings us back to the reason people use the net. I've gone around in a circle here.
I think if it was safer out and we weren't all so busy working and doing all the 'have-to's and day to day stuff we would all socialise more offline.
