Yes Ross, you're absolutely right. The term 'virtual' is really misleading, because ANY relationship (on-line or in RL) should be considered as REAL. Many people, especially young ones treat CMC as a kind of computer game that they could just turn off when something is going wrong. But in cyberspace we interact with other human beings, and it doesn't make any difference whether these interactions are face-to-face or not. And of course we cannot blame the Net - it is only a medium - as someone has pointed out - morally neutral one. I am only a layman - not a psychologist/psychiatrist, so I cannot support my point of view with any scientific words, but I guess "even an ignorant has his story"
