No, no Carey, what I said was that what Todd said —essentially that the “mind” can be “extended” beyond the “individual” brain which can transcend “individual reproductive survival”—could be roughly said of termites; and I suspect that JimB would more or less agree. Fred, I suspect that you're trying to argue Jim's position against mine rather than arguing your own, which is why we missed each other's intention. The fact that a network of termites and a network of humans may have some similar properties (something close to Jim's view) doesn't mean they don't also have distinct ones (my point). If you sometimes seem like a jerk to me, it is because you so quickly attribute our misunderstandings to deliberate "twisting" on my part. kind regards, Todd
