    EMDR Certified vs. Non-Certified
    Mary · 05/19/04 at 4:54 PM ET

Is there any policy or set of guidelines that govern those eligible for EMDR training to "practice" EMDR without EMDRIA Certification?

For example, if a practitioner only took Level I training, then decides to "practice" EMDR on clients, *without* Level II, and without supervision by an EMDRIA Consultant ... is there any governing laws?

Does EMDRIA govern those that can/cannot practice or is it up to the interpretation of each state's licensing board?

I am just wondering if this is a "buyer beware" situation; that one should ensure that the therapist is EMDRIA Certified ... or go elsewhere.

    Thank you!
    Mary
