    Actually you are a bit off point.

    Legal bodies do not regulate ANY specific form of psychotherapy, not cognitive behavior therapy, not hypnosis and not EMDR. Legal bodies, namely, state licensing boards, regulate the practice of mental health professions. They make sure people have met the criteria of their professions such as psychology, social work, etc. They don't care, know or ask about a therapist's specific qualifications to use a specific therapeutic method.

    Secondly, in case there is anyone unfamiliar with the now substantial body of research finding EMDR to be efficacious in the treatment of PTSD, please go to www.emdr.com.

    Any controversy that remains about EMDR has to do with 1) what the mechanism of action is or 2) some people have other political concerns with it. You can find all those discussions on this forum or its archives.
