I went to www.emdrportal.com, and found a number of references to blocking beliefs, including these from Sam Foster, PhD, which refer to performance blocks: 1. Believing that past failures will inevitably be repeated.
2. Belief that one must demonstrate complete mastery in an endeavor to be worthwhile.
3. Belief that hearing No or encountering rejection will be intolerable.
4. Belief that others ?have it easier? when they engage in a challenging task (unfairness schema).
5. Belief that a perfect performance is the only acceptable performance.
6. Belief that one must impress others, resulting (often) in the exaggeration of one?s capabilities.
Others include beliefs that one is a bad seed and isn't supposed to be happy (or is supposed to be punished) and more. You might also search google for "blocking beliefs emdr" and see what comes up. I've got a patient waiting. Post back here when you narrow down your question, okay? and thanks for your post. --Sandra
