    Blocking Belief?
    ln · 10/16/03 at 8:34 ET

I've been doing emdr for 3 years after 10 years of talk therapy (there was a break in between). The talk therapy accomplished a lot, the emdr even more. Recently I've been working on an issue that I didn't deal with in talk therapy. If something can be said to be a core issue, my hunch would be that this is it. On everything else, my experience of emdr has been a slow but steady zig-zag downward. Although I've had a number of insights on the issue I'm dealing with now, I keeping going down a bit on the SUDS and then jumping right back up to the top the next session. I've heard about blocking beliefs, and wonder if this could be what is happening to me on this issue. How would I figure out what the blocking belief is? Could you give some examples of blocking beliefs? Once I know what the belief is, is the protocol for working on it in emdr the same as with memories? Thank you so very much for hosting this forum.
