I suppose that wasn't the best word. It's how I perceived it though. It was interesting to me to see this "technique" referred to as an accepted and articulated clinical tool. It hadn't occurred to me as something deliberately used, I just assumed it was an improvisation of sorts. I like thinking of it as a "tool", it makes the dynamic feel safer to me. I did NOT like being "goaded", which is how it has felt. But encouraged to express affect and distress... in order to bring them into the light of day, so they can be processed, and integrated, that feels fine, good, even... Thanks for the clarification and explanation.
