could anyone tell me please

i suspect that emdr opened areas that i have sealed off for many many years and out of fear of the feelings associated with these areas i ran from treatment. i now cannot close back down again like i could before and i do not know if it is because of the emdr or does this happen once the lid is opened on abuse.
