Hi, One of the difficulties with working with trauma experiences, is that therapy often opens up old wounds and memories. This is true for EMDR as well as other therapies that address trauma issues. EMDR therapists are trained in a variety of techniques to help you deal with this experience. It is generally not a good idea (that is, it prevents the trauma material from being delt with) to stop therapy in the midst of this increased turmoil. If it does not feel like you could return to your therapist, then I might suggest finding another therapist who you feel comfortable with.
