I want to thank all of you for your patience over the past week and for taking the time and effort to post. My special thanks go to the clients and their families. The final posts were extremely moving and underscore why those collaborating on the standards for EMDR training and practice strive to do it all to the very best of our ability. We're not perfect, but we'll never stop trying to combine both science and practice. In order to find an EMDR clinician, please contact either the EMDR International Association (www.emdria.org) or the EMDR Institute (www.emdr.com). You should make sure your clinician is fully trained and comfortable with your particular problem. It is best to interview clinicians to find one that is a good fit. The certification process EMDRIA has put in place should also assist in upgrading the level of overall competence in the field. The EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs are found through www.emdrhap.org. The emphasis is upon helping to stop the cycle of violence worldwide. Perhaps you can assist with referrals or contacts. I will be teaching and offline until March 27. I feel sure that the clinicians using EMDR in their practices who have posted over the last week will be able to answer anything that arises. EMDR is only as good as the hands that use it. I've been gratified over the past week to see how high that calibre can be.
