The "abstract" submitted by Dr. Don is just a series of unsubstantiated negative statements about EMDR. This particular unpublished article is not available to read, but it appears to be a recycling of a similar article this same group of authors wrote for the California Psychologist and then mailed for submission to every state psychology association newletter in the US. This group is clearly "on a mission." Consistantly, they have skewed or omitted data supportive of the effectiveness of EMDR.(There is more solid scientific data supporting the effectiveness of EMDR than for any other treatment for PTSD.) Close reading of the previous articles of this group shows their main focus is not on whether EMDR works, but why it works. In time, this issue will sort itself out, because adherance to the scientific method, if used in an unbiased way, will show what is true in the end. In the meantime, clients who are rapidly resolving post-traumatic stress don't seem to have any concerns about the legitimacy and effectiveness of EMDR.
