Dance/Movement therapist Joan Chodorow, Ph.D., A.D.T.R., explores connections of body movements, infant affects (per Tomkins), and active imagination in chapters 8 and 11 of her book "Dance Therapy and Depth Psychology" (1991. New York: Routledge.). Her husband Louis H. Stewart, Ph.D., (San Francisco) serves as a consultant.
Some of us dance/movement therapists have read "Shame and Pride" and "The Many Faces of Shame" and parts of Tomkins' four AIC's, and found, with Chodorow's encouragement, that body movements as ways of exploring affects and scripts are very helpful.
Many thanks and best wishes.
