    Responses to public humiliation
    by Lia Ades, 12/8/98

I'm looking foward to read more about Don's theory! What to read first? Following his thoughts, what can we say about reactions to public humiliation? How can I describe the relation between responses to shame ('the four poles') and responses to public humiliation? Are there gender differences concerning these responses? I study human morality, specifically moral shame, and honor. My present research is based on interviewes, using a fictitious situation of public humiliation; I try to explore the emotional responses envolved, the judgement people make about the situation (what they think about the agressor, what is the right thing to do in a situation like that, etc.) and how they say they would react to it. If there's something you think that could help me, I would appreciate. And it will be great to discuss 'responses to humiliation'. Thanks for the attention!
