Hi, Chauncey. I recognize the anger you felt when you first wrote about men's shame. I have done the same thing---from the female point of view. Once, my husband asked me (in despair) if I would ever get over my anger with him and I said, "what anger?" Later, my friend and colleague, Jim Landers, pointed out my anger at men in general enough times that I began to "get" it. I think I'm done with it now, (as I sense that you are) and I just feel sadness for all of us.
The light at the end of the tunnel seems to me to be discussions like this---a sort of coming together of people who are beginning to understand shame affect and it's power both for good and for evil individually...and even more, collectively. Thanks again for your warmth and wisdom!
