    I tend to agree with your observations. Some of the aspects of Tomkins' theories are obscure and are difficult to apply in the real world of clinical patient treatment. But, it is always worth examining new or different approaches. Perhaps as we all develop a better understanding of these specific applications regarding affect, they will become useful in developing patient treatment plans and in daily therapy sessions.
