Don, thank you for the information on _Many Faces of Shame_ and your comments on shaming systems. I look forward to reading the chapter you mention.
Somehow we all have to do more to stop the shaming of interns. When I was fifty--twelve years ago---I was heavily shamed by supervisors (fired by one because I dared show a little personal poser) while accumulating hours toward licensing. As senior people we have to speak out, keep breaking the norm of silence, on this universal pattern of shaming underlings. We have to develop a conscious strategy. Gershen Kaufman got through to Robert Bly who now regularly says, "Don't shame me!"
_Work Abuse_ has been an incredible hassle. Working with a publisher 3000 miles away and never having met face to face with the editor, designer, and promotion person has been a shaming (systems) process!! The book is about five months late. The advance reviews have been good, however.
I have the address of the Tomkins Institute and will send a copy as soon as I have one in hand. Thanks again.
