Re: EMDR therapy in companion animals

Am not aware of anyone doing "therapy" to their companion
animals other than massage or accupuncture types of things.

It is interesting that my dog responded the way he did. Perhaps he calmed down because of the attention, but, then again, I had spent a lot of time petting and soothing him
during previous storms to no avail. Or, perhaps after conveying a calm demeanor myself during storms, he finally got the message that it was ok. Then again, I had another dog prior to knowing EMDR who never did get over it. Different temperaments, maybe.

One could draw endless conclusions. Perhaps the bilateral stimulation did have a direct physiological effect on his panic/anxiety state. Too bad I can't ask him! The research on this case stinks, but the client feels better!
