Predicting Who Will Respond to EMDR

Hi Francine! Nice to see that this forum is operating, and I've posted news about it to several online psychology forums. Now to my question: In the year or so that I've been using EMDR, I have noticed a tremendous variability in patients' response to the treatment. That is, I will have two patients with very similar and longstanding problems (for example, panic disorder). One will have a dramatic improvement on EMDR; the other will show little or no benefit on it, yet will respond well to other psychotherapeutic approaches (e.g., hypnosis intermixed with cognitive therapy to help the patient stop mislabeling normal physical events as incipient panic). So my question is this: Do you have any clues at this point that give you hunches as to who EMDR will work with, and who it won't be effective with?
