I want to practice meditation regularly and have been trying for years. I read books by Tibetan masters, Pema Chodron, folks like that. I recently met a person associated with The American Meditation Society and I'm considering taking an eight class course with him. Has anyone heard of this group? I have found that meditating without guidance, or only with "book" guidance is not enough for me. Also, when I meditate, I do become very aware of my anxiety. I have been in therapy for about two years with one therapist. Some of my issues have been about anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulty in some interpersonal situations. Any thoughts or light that can be shed on how to find guidance would be helpful. Thanks. Oh, while I feel anxious sometimes when I meditate, I also feel more self-aware, and I get a sense of how my mind works, as though I'm gaining an understanding of how I form ideas, the way one thought builds on another. Bye.
