    Mayumi,
If you think of attentional absorption and autonomic balance as helping ANV, then the comedy movies make sense as helping more than relaxation videos. A good comedy is absorbing and reduces anxiety. Meditation, relaxation, biofeedback, and hyponsis all help. And they will help a LOT, once the subject masters the skills. But unless they practice A LOT, a good comdey will help more than a movie or even a relaxation practice where they will STILL be distracted by their physical discomfort. So don't stop teaching relaxation methods to patients, but direct their attention to visual and auditory sensation and the breath - anything OTHER than their discomfort (which, they should notice, and then re-absorb into other sensation). In the meantime, Yojimbo should work great during chemo.
