    Anticipatory Nausea and Vomiting
Mayumi Kaneda · 12/28/99 at 3:09 am ET

I am working with cancer patients who suffer from anticipatory nausea and vomiting. I am showing the movies to distract patient attention from the treatment and it seems to be helping them. I tried both relaxation video and regular movies, and almost all the patient liked regular movies(action, comedy and so on). I thought they would benefit from the relaxation video, but not. Why is that? Is it because of the strength of the stimulus?
Moreover. Hypnosis, relaxation, and other kind of behavior therapy have been effective treating ANV, I found out, What do you suggest to use for the treatment of ANV? They seems to be looking for passive treatment.

(I am former student of CSPP and took your class in summer 98, if you remember.)
