    understanding stress
susan landry · 8/26/99 at 5:24 pm ET

i am trying to understand the biochemical mechanisms of stress, the mind/body connection, and its converse, relaxation. ( i am a medical writer.) a doc i'm working with on an article told me that interleukin 1, a lymphocyte. stimulates a hormone from the pituitary gland, proving the interaction of 2 physiological systems. but i am having difficulty understanding the relation to stress/or relaxation and disease/or wellness. anybody out there have a clue--or can you steer me somewhere?
