This question is not about licensing through ASCH or any other national certification body. It assumes that the person is generally clinically trained and certified through one of the above.
I am trying to find information on existing and proposed STATE licensing requirements to practice hypnosis or hypnotherapy. Does anyone know of a web site where I can find out CURRENT information?
If not, can anyone answer this question? I am considering a move to Florida, where I will have to come in as an intern (because I don't yet have two years' worth of post-masters clinical practice under my belt, although I have done extensive volunteer work). I'm wondering what restrictions will be placed on me if I wanted to provide hypnotherapy/hypnosis for things such as ego-strengthening, smoking cessation, performance enhancement, etc. I know enough to know I should not get into anything too clinically "heavy" and that appropriate assessments should be done before proceeding.
My main concern is that my clinical hypnotherapy skills are going to atrophy during the time I am meeting requirements to practice clinically/autonomously. I'm willing to give away some sessions to at least maintain, if not deepen, my level of skill, but I don't want to get into any kind of trouble for doing it. If I can charge for my services, that would be gravy, but that's not my main concern here.
Advice?
