Recently, my wife, who runs a day care in our home, had the misfortune of finding/trying to resuscitate a 4 month old SIDS victim. The parents were very close friends of ours, the wake and funeral were gut-wrenching ordeals. The wound was very slow to heal and she was stuck on the traumatic image. After several sessions, her counselor sugested EMDR. After doing out homework, we decided to give it a try. Her mood and outlook improved dramatically almost immediately! We are keeping our fingers crossed in hopes that it "sticks". She is going to continue to see the counselor, but there are no other EMDR sessions scheduled as of yet. Any advice or suggestions? Thank you so much Dr. Shapiro.
