Career Transition to OD consulting

    Career Transition to OD consulting
    by David Shaw, 9/17/96

I can see that it may be slow going here for a while. I was going to sit back and see what was posted first, but I will sieze the opportunity to start a new topic myself.

As I am currently beginning my transition into management consulting, I could use as much advice/counsel as possible. I am ten years post-doc from an APA-accredited clincal program. I have held administrative positions as the coordinator of a VA substance abuse treatment program and now as the Director of an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Internship at a Private General Medical Hospital that is part of a large academic health care corporation. I am trying to develop some internal consulting contacts as well as some external contacts at other non-profits. My predicted strengths would probably in executive coaching and team building, but these are "predicted" because I have not done this before. The books I have read are already noted in an earlier posting.

What I would like to hear are any words of wisdom, suggestions for guiding my practice, marketing, etc. Thanks for your help!
